Dr Gary Heitzler has spent over 25 years serving the dental health needs of children and young adults in Westchester County. With a dental degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and a two year residency specializing in Pediatric Dentistry at The Brookdale Medical Center in Brooklyn, Dr. Gary has received extensive training with the unique emotional and physical development of children, as well as children with special needs.
Dr. Gary is also the Director of the Children’s Dental Department at St. Josephs Medical Center located in Yonkers, NY. As director of the department, Dr. Gary and his staff of dentists provide quality care to underserved children in the community. Dr. Gary is also a an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and is an Clinical Professor of Dental Medicine at Touro College of Dental Medicine in Valhalla, New York on the New York Medical College campus.
Dr. Dena was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. She witnessed all four seasons for the first time when she went to college at Washington University in St. Louis where she majored in psychology and minored in Hebrew.
She then returned to Florida to earn her DMD from the University of Florida College of Dentistry. While in dental school, Dr. Dena was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society and participated in various volunteer opportunities, including a dental mission trip to the Dominican Republic and the Special Olympics.
Dr. Dena then migrated north to complete her two-year pediatric dental residency program at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, where she trained in one of the most culturally diverse areas in the country.
Dr. Dena is a board-certified pediatric dentist. She is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the New York State Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. She was awarded the 2015 James R. Roche Award of Excellence for attaining the highest score on the Qualifying Examination for the year.
Dr. Dena has been working with children her entire life, from babysitting to tutoring to being a camp counselor, and she is so happy she gets to work one-on-one with children everyday in a fun, caring and nurturing environment.
Dr. Dena enjoys cooking, reading, painting, running and exploring New York City.
Dr. Basa was born and raised in sunny Southern California. She received both her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences and DDS degree in 2007 and 2013 respectively from the University of Southern California. In dental school, Dr. Basa volunteered with the USC Mobile Clinic providing dental care to underserved children in the Los Angeles area. She also shared her passion for humanitarian work abroad volunteering in dental mission trips to Mexico and Honduras. After graduating from USC, Dr. Basa set her sights on NYC where she completed her general practice residency and specialty training in pediatric dentistry from Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center. There she received extensive training in treating children, including those with special needs, under moderate sedation, IV sedation and general anesthesia.
Dr. Basa is a board certified pediatric dentist. She stays current with the latest in pediatric dentistry by maintaining active memberships with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), Northeast Society of Pediatric Dentistry (NESPD) and the American Dental Association (ADA).
Dr. Basa understands that each child is special, as are their dental needs. She is passionate about providing quality care to each patient and fostering a positive attitude towards oral health. In her spare time Dr. Basa enjoys going to concerts, reading, traveling and weekend brunches with friends.
